Chef John's Apple Dumplings

This all-American, classic dessert gets its start by boiling brown sugar, butter, and water together on the stovetop for a sweet sauce. Chef John's Buttercrust Pastry Dough is then rolled out into circles before cored apples are placed on top and filled with a cinnamon-sugar mixture and butter before they get wrapped in the soft dough. More sweet sauce is ladled on top before they're baked to golden, warm deliciousness and basted with more of the brown sugar goodness. It's as simple as that!
