No need to be intimidated by a beautiful loaf of bread . . . you can achieve a great crumb and gorgeous crust with very little effort—just bake in your heavy casserole dish or Dutch oven. Simply mix all of the ingredients: flour, yeast, salt, warm water and herbs, if you like—rosemary, thyme, sage. Then allow for the dough to develop overnight, form into a ball and allow to rise for a couple of hours and bake in a preheated dish covered, then uncovered to achieve the golden crust.
