Caramelized Maple Apple Pie with Candied Bacon Crumble

Make a pie worthy of the holidays, one full of traditional flavor and some delicious surprise, too! First caramelize some bacon by baking it topped with brown sugar. Combine apples in lemon juice, then fold into a pan of simmering butter, brown sugar and maple syrup. Remove the apples, then cook the syrup with apple cider vinegar and pour back over the apples. Combine flour with brown sugar, butter, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Pulse with bacon to create a sweet and salty crumble. Fill a pastry crust with the apples and top the filling with crumble. Brush the crust with milk and top with sugar and bake until bubbly and irresistible for an unexpectedly savory and delicious apple pie!
