You can’t have a true Cuban sandwich without authentic Cuban bread! Learn step by step how easy making a couple loaves is! Begin by chilling overnight a starter mixed from warm water, active dry yeast and all purpose flour. Activate more active dry yeast with warm water and sugar, and create a sticky dough by adding lard, salt, flour and the starter. After kneading and rising, cut and press dough into thin rectangles, roll them into loaves, then transfer to cornmeal-lined pans to rest. Score each loaf, mist with water and bake in a hot oven until a beautiful golden brown. Slice thin and serve with butter or slice lengthwise to make excellent sandwiches.
