How to Make Homemade Flour Tortillas

In this video, you’ll see how to make easy homemade flour tortillas. They’re shockingly simple to make and only require a few common ingredients. Chef John will show you how to work the fat into the flour; you’ll see just what the mixture should look like before you add warm water. Roll your tortilla dough out nice and thin—if you have a nifty tortilla press, it’s even easier. Call these fabulous tortillas “flatbread” if you like. Supple, chewy, moist, tender—these homemade tortillas are incredibly delicious. Get the recipe for Chef John’s Flour Tortillas.

You should eat a homemade tortilla with butter! It's so good, you just heat up the tortilla and then spread butter all over one side of the tort and then roll it up it's so good!

I bet his "tortillas" crack in half as soon as you try and fold them when they are cool. I use 1 Tbls shortening or lard per 2 Cups of flour. Works really for me. Roll thin and then cook on med high for 10 sec a side. No need to rest dough or anything and its lower in fat.

Help me! I am not getting the bubbles when we put them on the cast iron griddle (MH heat) so mine are coming out more dense. Flavor is good though. Ideas?
