Someone gave me an eight-pound spaghetti squash that lurked in the garage for ten weeks. Then I found this recipe and really liked the results. It should work well with other squash varieties.

My family eats a lot of spaghetti squash. Trying this recipe for first time tonight. We cook it whole in microwave without cutting open and scoop out seeds after it is cooked. Depending on microwave wattage and size of squash it will take 8 to 12 minutes to cook in microwave. Punch holes in rind, using fork, about 10 places around. Set in microwave, whole, and cook. It will be hot so let it cool some before handling. Microwave cooking keeps the heat in kitchen down in HOT climates.
