In this video, you’ll see how to make a rich, old-fashioned red velvet cake. This moist cake and its distinctive red color are perfect for Christmastime, but anyone would love a slide any time of year. This recipe uses the Southern leavening technique of vinegar added to baking soda; once you make that fizzy little concoction, fold it into the batter gently and quickly, and get the layers into the oven. Then serve the finished product and enjoy. Get the recipe for Eleanor Johnson’s Red Velvet Cake.

I love Red Velvet Cake - had it for my wedding :) I'm trying another RV recipe from this site, but if it doesn't work, I'll definitely give this one a try! Not too sure about flour in my frosting, so I'll just play it safe and use my usual Cream Cheese Frosting.

Is there any substitute for buttermilk?
