Most importantly, it’s cold.

I don't know about you, but the weather where I am is obscenely hot to the point that bothering to wear a shirt feels masochistic. Things are so bad that New York City is technically a subtropical climate now.

Instead of stewing in the heat and worrying about the real and looming threat of climate change, maybe opt for Dairy Queen's August Blizzard of the Month, the all-new Oreo Fudge Brownie Blizzard Treat.

You heard that right: just in time for the dog days of the most boring yet stressful summer of our lives comes a DQ blizzard equally inspired by the decadence of fudge brownies and the classic cookie/creme taste of Oreos. Specifically, you're getting "smooth cocoa fudge" alongside real bits of chewy brownies and crunchie Oreos blended into a soft-serve Blizzard. Truly, what more could you ask for (assuming all you're asking for is a cool dessert treat).

As you might expect, this isn't the only Blizzard-related thing that's been happening at Dairy Queen recently. Back in April (so about 30 years ago), DQ introduced a line of Summer Blizzards, which include an Oreo Cheesecake option. That should be a solid alternative in case you know you want a Blizzard with Oreos in it but simply cannot stand brownies for some reason.

Given that this is billed as August's blizzard of the month, don't expect this Oreo Fudge Brownie offering to last until Labor Day. So if you have the energy to get out of whatever air conditioned room you've locked yourself in, try out this bit of Blizzard relief via takeout, delivery, or drive-thru. You can even dine in if you live in a state that somehow still thinks that's a great idea.

It's a long, hot summer, but desserts like this can help us get through it. Just be glad that Dairy Queen isn't running a sale on hot soup.
