Wisconsin Bratwurst

Rating: 4.5 stars 451
This is the only way to cook bratwurst in Wisconsin. The brats are incredibly tasty! If you can get fresh bratwurst from a sausage shop, do it... it is worth the extra cost. Serve with brown mustard on substantial hoagie rolls, never on hot dog buns. Mustard is important and must always be stone ground. Add warm sauerkraut and ketchup, if you like. Chow down! Think about those Wisconsin summers! Listen to some polka!

Milwaukee Rye Bread

Rating: 4.5 stars 4
I found this in an inherited recipe box dated 1936. It originally called for 2 tablespoons fat, but I have substituted margarine or shortening with good results. I do not recommended making this recipe in a bread machine. If necessary, one tablespoon of active dry yeast can be substituted for the compressed yeast in this recipe.

Wisconsin Native's Beer Cheese Soup

Rating: 4.5 stars 434
As a Wisconsin native, I'm accustomed to a fantastic beer cheese soup. This is the recipe I've created, as a salute to my home state...America's Dairy land...and a state that brews a mighty fine beer! Serve with lots of popcorn floating on top!

Quick fried dough that's crispy outside and soft inside and great with jam.

Best Fried Walleye

Rating: 5 stars 118
This is the recipe my dad has been using for 25 years. It's light and clean-tasting because there's no sense in masking the naturally delicious flavor of such an awesome Canadian delicacy! No tartar sauce needed!

Real Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds

Rating: 4.5 stars 98
Beer battered and deep fried, these cheese curds are a real Wisconsin treat. Eat while clutching a cold brewski in other hand. Yah, hey dere.

Smoked Fish Dip

Rating: 4.5 stars 99
This recipe for smoked fish dip is world class, puts most others to shame, and is served in several prominent restaurants on the gulf coast of Florida. We used smoked whitefish, well boned, but any other smoked fish should work. Serve with crackers, lemon or lime wedges, and capers.

Fried Morel Mushrooms

Rating: 4.5 stars 26
These prized mushrooms are only around for a short time in the spring and go for top dollar if you can't find your own in the forest, or along the river.

Crispy Fried Fish

Rating: 4.5 stars 148
Whip up a regular beer batter, and add a final spicy dry dredge to create a truly crispy dish.

Deep-Fried Tilapia

Rating: 4.5 stars 3
In Wisconsin, the "Friday Fish Fry" is a time-honored tradition. This deep-fried tilapia is my family's way of bringing it home.

Perogies
Rating: Unrated 107
I grew up on these delicious perogies. I make 3 batches of dough for this recipe and freeze some. You can have perogies just boiled, or you can fry them in butter, which makes them tastier. Serve with sour cream or cottage cheese. Hint: To freeze perogies, freeze separately first, then put in freezer bags. Otherwise, they will all stick together.
Wisconsin Five-Cheese Bake
Rating: 4.5 stars 196

A savory twist on traditional macaroni and cheese made with multiple cheeses for layers of cheese flavor in every bite.
