Jicama Zebra Fries

Rating: Unrated
Ever wonder what to do when you have too much jicama? Here's a quick guide to making a quick snack. Best served with barbeque sauce. The stripes on the fries are caused by the moisture escaping the jicama and creating fissures where the starch from the jicama collects and browns.

Baked Panko-Breaded Zucchini Fries

A surprisingly tasty, yet healthy, alternative for your fry craving. Use marinara sauce, ranch sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce to finish off this tasty snack.

Green Banana Fries

Rating: Unrated
I learned about this when I was in Kenya. I've never tasted better fries nor more nutritious fries. Potatoes aren't that common in Kenya but bananas and roots are. They taste as good as any fast food French fries and are healthier. Green bananas are the healthiest because they have all their vitamins where ripe ones lose most of them because they're too ripe. Green bananas do not have a strong banana flavor at all. It's very deceptive and very healthy. I couldn't stop eating them.

Quick and Easy Parmesan Zucchini Fries

Zucchinis, Parmesan cheese, garlic, and paprika make these ultimate zucchini fries, that are so easy to make, and carb-conscious as well!

Chinese Five-Spice Air Fryer Butternut Squash Fries

Rating: Unrated
These 'fries' made with Chinese five-spice powder are sweet and spicy, and they're a fiber-full, lower-carb alternative to French fries. Made in the air fryer, they're less messy and can cook up while the rest of your meal is in the making.

Inspiration and Ideas

Low-Carb Zucchini Fries

"These were amazing, especially dipped in ranch dressing. I threw a bit of garlic salt into the breading mix, came out fantastic." – Melanie McCreery

Crispy Turnip 'Fries'

"I haven't had fries in 6 months because I've been on a low carb diet. I made this today—they sure hit the spot!" – Roberta Di Matteo

Coconut-Crusted Taro Fries

Ever heard of baked taro fries? To all the AIP-eaters, nightshade-intolerants, and healthy fries-lovers, this recipe is a total game changer! Yams are great to replace normal potatoes, but when you get tired of that sweet taste and want something a bit more starchy, taro is a great, more exotic alternative. Taro is a delicious root vegetable I learned to love while I was living in Macau. One of my favorite things to do when I was there was to go to the Chinese supermarket and try to understand what all those weird fruits and vegetables were (yes, the labels were only in Chinese!). Serve as a delicious snack or a salad accompaniment.
