Vince's Marinated Strawberries and Ice Cream


"Strawberries marinated in wine and Cointreau are mixed with fresh berries and served over vanilla ice cream. A great, sexy summer dessert. Be sure to use a quality red wine for best flavor, and don't be afraid to try it with different wines."

  1. In a medium bowl, stir together the wine, water, and Cointreau. Add about 1/4 of the strawberries and the orange slices. Marinate for 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  2. Place the remaining strawberries in a separate bowl. Sprinkle the confectioners' sugar over them. Cover and refrigerate as well.
  3. To serve, mix both bowls of berries and sauce together. Scoop ice cream into serving bowls, and spoon berries over the ice cream. Drizzle with some of the marinade.

I think this could be really good, but with changes. The strawberry/wine/orange combination is excellent, but the marinated strawberries are far too acidic and strong. I'd also like it if the ma...

Delicious!! We tried this with friends after a BBQ the other was sophisticated and decadent. I recommend using good quality vanilla iced cream like Haagen Daz or Breyers.

I love this combo! but I put the syrup /fruit and ice cream in a blender and froze it in a loaf was awesome! Thnx for sharing this
