Look for kefir—a drinkable yogurt—in the refrigerated section near the milk and yogurt or in the specialty health sections of larger grocery stores.

2 cups

Ingredients

  • ½ cup kefir

  • ½ cup cold brewed tea

  • 1 cup frozen banana slices

  • 1 cup frozen sliced strawberries

  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder

Directions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth, stopping to scrape down sides as needed, 2 to 3 minutes. Serve.

Cook's Notes:

You can use 1 cup of any frozen chopped or sliced fruit, any flavored kefir, and 1 to 2 teaspoon of any powder addition you like. You can use chilled brewed coffee instead of tea.

If you don't have frozen slices ready, swap in 1 ripe banana, sliced, and add 2 to 3 ice cubes.

Variations:

Pretty in Pink: Pomegranate-flavored kefir, white tea, sliced strawberries, and hibiscus powder (ground dried hibiscus flowers, found online)

Oh, Chai There: Vanilla-flavored kefir, black tea, chopped peaches, and chai tea powder

Matcha in Paradise: Coconut-flavored kefir, green tea, chopped mango, and matcha powder

Mocha-Cherry: Cherry-flavored kefir, coffee, pitted sweet cherries, and unsweetened cocoa powder
