  1. Cut orange into sections, and remove the seeds. Grind the sections, peels and all.
  2. Combine dates, raisins, and ground orange in a medium saucepan: stir well. Stir in sugar and orange juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened.
  3. Spread hot filling between layers or on top of cake.

This was easy to make, however I didn't like the orange with the dates and raisins. I can see how it could go well with the Heritage Jam Cake, but I wasn't a fan. Next time I try this filling, I...
