Original recipe yields 20 servings (5 cups)
- Cream butter or margarine. Add salt and part of the sugar gradually, blending after each addition. Add remaining sugar, alternately with the egg whites first, then with the cream; beat after each addition. Beat after each addition until smooth. Add vanilla, and blend.

This icing was awful too! I have been baking for years and this is the first time that I have broken an appliance baking! The icing was so stiff it bent the beaters on the mixer!
