Amy's Delicious Turkey Burgers
So delicious and low in fat! Go figure. My family requests that I make them for every picnic or social event. Use any type of cracker that you like. Cheese crackers are my favorite.

Nice invention, Amy. For those interested in a healthy eating plan, this can be something you come back to again and again. Indeed, it is a healthy recipe. But the best part of this recipe is that it TASTES GOOD. I mean it REALLY tastes good. Admittedly, I was really hungry. And admittedly, I was looking for something spicy and interesting--not the same low-fat, low-cal routine. And man, Amy, this fit the bill and then some. Thankfully, I doubled the recipe so I can eat these delicous burgers for the next week or more. I thought there might be too many red pepper flakes for my taste, but the bite was just right. I'm a condiment freak and I couldn't bear to even consider putting ketchup and mustard on these. I used whole wheat buns, a fresh garden tomato, onion and a few dill slices and with a little Mexican Bean Stew on the side (also available on the allrecipes website), this was a Tex-Mex flavored meal fit for a king.

I changed this around a "little" but it was great! instead of garlic powder I used mincced garlic from a jar and I halfed the red pepper. It was still spicey though. I grilled some french bread and topped with sliced cheddar cheese. My husband really liked it and we will make this again. We grilled them on the Goerge Forman grill enjoy!
Absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS! The cheese crackers and the combination of seasonings gave these burgers such a great taste. The only thing I changed was ground chicken instead of turkey. I topped these magnificant burgers off with some pepper jack cheese and a slice of turkey bacon. This is definitely a recipe I will use again and again, not to mention share with family and friends.
My family really liked this turkey burger. I used dried onion powder instead of onions. I also added some A1 steak sauce and worcheshire sauce. Toppped with monterey jack cheese, lettuce and thousand island dressing! Will make again.
This was interesting...be careful the amount of crackers you use or you'll end up with something more like a spicy meatloaf! Very versatile recipe! Pile with lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese and a little BBQ sauce on a multi-grain roll for something that'll pass for a Ruby Tuesday-type burger! I will make this again but try the combo without turkey and mince with fresh shucked quahogs for stuffed quahogs on the half shell. Or I'll do it with tofu for a spicy vegetarian burger. I will also use the seasoning-cracker combo with shredded imitation crabmeat for crab cakes (just double the amount of cracker crumbs and add a little melted butter). Thanks for the recipe, Amy!
This recipe has become a family favorite. I leave out the red pepper flakes & add garlic powder instead but other than that I follow the recipe to a "T"
these were very garlicky so nxt time ill reduce the amount of garlic i use. apart from that they were ok
These didn't have enough flavor for us. Thanks for sharing though.
This was an easy, quick and healthy meal. My husband and I as well as my children enjoyed it. As others have mentioned, I also made my burgers on the George Foreman grill and modified with less red pepper flakes and a little more garlic. Thanks, Amy!
WE loved these burgers. They are the best turkey burger you can make.
WOW!! These were absolutely delicious!! I made only a couple of minor changes. I decreased the amount of garlic powder to 1/2 T., used onion powder instead of minced, & used golfish crackers(flavor blasted xtra cheddar) and followed the rest of the recipe exactly and threw them on the grill. My husband said he'd choose these over ground beef hamburgers anyday! Thanks for the recipe, will definitely make this quite often!!
I tried these & Spicy Chipotle Turkey Burgers - the same night. Not a whole lotta difference in the recipes. Not too different with the review either. I did reduce the red pepper since I was serving kids. 'Could taste it. Not a lot. More wouldn't have been better, just more. 'Think I'll pass on this one, but I'm glad I tried it. I just wonder if red pepper or chipolte is just too strong a flavor for turkey. Ranch; Garlic & Ranch; & Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers were better.
My very first try at a turkey burger--AMAZING. We may never go back to beef again!
We used ground turkey breast, goldfish brand crackers and omitted the pepper flakes but added hot sauce afterwards (to taste). They turned out okay, but I think that there is probably a better tasting turkey burger out there. Definitely kid friendly though.
I love this recipe! Make these burgers all the time and follow the recipe exactly as is. My husband, family and friends all love it too. Thanks for sharing!! If you don't like spicy this is still delicious w/o red pepper flakes. Oh and these taste just as great heated up the next day.
so good! i had to use onion powder instead because i didn't have minced onion. and i used hot and spicy cheez-its for the crackers. my husband and i loved them! thanks for sharing this recipe!
these were pretty good. definitely better than a plain turkey burger.
Yum! As a previous reviewer suggested, I added 2 Tblspns of steak sauce. This is a great recipe to make for get-togethers because it will please dieters and burger lovers alike.
This recipe has a lot of potential, but is WAY too garlicky - even for a garlic fan like myself! After reading reviews I too cut down the red pepper flakes, but the combination of the 1/2 T of pepper and the full T of garlic just made for a harsh, overpowering bite. The burgers were moist and had a nice texture (which can be difficult with ground turkey), but the flavor was unfortunately bitter and unpleasant. If I made this again, I would use 1/2 T at most of the garlic, and maybe add some worcestershire sauce for a fuller flavor.
We were looking for a quick and easy burger using turkey meat instead of beef as we were trying to follow our plan. This was delicious and had lots of flavor. Ended up cooking it on an Cuisanart counter top grill on medium heat and it worked great.
I made the turkey patties (using 1 lb. of ground turkey) and added a few more things. I added a scallion stalk, substituted the garlic powder for 2 cloves of garlic, and only used 1/3 tsp. of chili flakes. The patties turned out a bit bland and next time I think I'll add about 3/4 tsp. all-seasoning salt to give it more flavor. I give this recipe a 3 just because it's a good basic recipe but it needs a lot of additions to make it really good.
These were very tasty. I used flavored breadcrumbs instead of crushed crackers, minus the pepper flakes and used salt and pepper to taste. I topped it with cheese and toasted some whole wheat bread using Frank's Hot Sauce and it was YUM! My husband really doesnt like spicy so Frank' shot sauce is the way to go for a mild kick. I will definately make this again.
My husband said he liked these. But my 2 kids and I did not. They were too spicy for the kids (even after cutting the red pepper flakes by 1/2). And they just didn't seem quite right to me. Sorry.
These burgers are wonderful. Even my husband loves them. They are great reheated also. Wonderful recipe!!! And healthy too!!!
I love this recipe, but I usually add only one third of the recommended amount of red pepper flakes. I like spicy food...but this recipe calls for way too much.
Delicious. I opted to leave out the red pepper flakes but will definitely put it in next time I make this. I used onion powder instead of minced since that's all I had. Also put in a little bit of Worcestershire. Great burger.
I thought these were yummy - me and my partner like our food really spicy so to top off the burger we added a chilli and jalapeño relish. Will defo make these again.
Don't know what I did wrong, but this had way too much garlic and red pepper flakes, and I like spicy things. This definitely turned my husband off to turkey burgers.
Wow, these were yummy. I used paprika since I didn't have red pepper. Will make again.
I did not care for this recipe. I don't mind spicy food at all but these were unappealing. I doubled the recipe because we had eight mouths to feed and verified the quantities prior to making the patties. The first thought I had was "wow that is a lot of spice for such a small amount of meat" and my insticts were dead on.
I've tried a lot of turkey burger recipes from this site - and this is by far the best one. We love the flavor. I do add a teaspoon of light sour cream as I think it helps keep the turkey super moist. Other than that, I make them as is and love them.
Didn't turn out quite like I hoped. The burgers took a lot longer to cook than the suggested 10 minutes.
Very moist, lots of flavor, but very spicy. We love food with a kick, but our guests said it was too spicy. I would start with less red pepper next time.
this was a spicy recipe w/ the full 1 tbsp. of red pepper flakes - will definately leave this ingredient out next time so the burgers can be family friendly!
Loved these burgers! Just the right kick, and everyone loved them!
To make this recipe extra healthy, I substitute whole grain oats for the cheese crackers-yum!
I liked this recipe. My children did not. Will keep looking for the perfect turkey burger.
Yummy! Used ground turkey breast for less fat and didn't have red pepper flakes so I used a little hot sauce (about 1/8 tsp). We topped with melted laughing cow blue cheese wedges and loved them!
Awesome!! I made exactly as stated using Goldfish Cheddar crackers. Definately will make again. Thanks!
Fab-u-lous! Only substitution I made was shredded (not grated) Parmesan cheese instead of crackers. So delicious, and I've tried a ton of turkey burger recipes. This is the best so far.
Delicious! Made as written. I think these will be my staple burger recipe from now on.
This was disappointing, and tasted more like meatloaf then a turkey burger. It was edible, but not great.
i thought these were pretty good flavor-wise, but i wasn't loving the texture - a little too mushy-cracker tasting. almost soggy? it was good for a change but not a favorite. thanks though!
This was very satisfying. Taking other reviewers' leads, I cut down the pepper flakes to 1/2 teaspoon and turned the dish into a meatloaf. The dish had plenty of spice. I topped it off with chili sauce, put it in the oven at 350 degrees, and let it bake for an hour.
This is DELICIOUS! We don't eat burgers often, so I adapted this recipe for meatloaf... I just add green peppers, ketchup & chopped onion. My husband LOVES it, and everyone always asks for the recipe! Definitely a staple of my cooking!
I have been searching for a turkey burger recipe for years - but not any more! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing recipe. I make it AS IS 99% of the time. When I do "tweak" it, I add fresh minced onion instead of dried, and fresh minced garlic instead of powdered. I also sometimes reduce the red pepper as my youngest is heat sensitive. Amazing recipe without any tweaks at all, and so easy!
There just aren't enough stars to say how much my family loved these burgers. I doubled the recipe. I didn't have minced onion so on a whim I added one package of dry onion soup mix. I cooked them in a dry non stick skillet instead of grilling them. The mix felt much more moist than I expected but the burgers came out fabulously. I tried this recipe several days ago and my family is still talking about them. Thanks for sharing!!
While the flavor of these is good the paragraph description is misleading. These will not be low in fat unless you use ground turkey breast only. Regular ground turkey, which includes the dark meat, is almost the same as ground beef in terms of fat and calories.
These turkey burgers are definitely the best I have ever made and arguably some of the best I have ever eaten. My husband likes turkey burgers but sometimes complains they are dry or bland but he remarked that these were bursting with flavor (and not dry). I didn't have all of the ingredients so I was forced to make some modifications: instead of cheese flavored crackers I used wheat crackers and added basil and oregano for fun. I also used cayenne pepper instead of red pepper flakes (though a little less) and I used a clove of fresh garlic and a tablespoon or two of fresh diced onions. I also cooked them in a skillet because we don't have a grill. One day when I plan a little bit better I will try it with the exact recipe. Thanks Amy!
These tasted so good, I will have no problem adding ground turkey to my diet. The crushed red pepper not only gave it heat, it gave it flavor. I used saltines instead of the cheese flavored crackers and they still tasted great. I am always looking for healthier alternatives because I can't eat as much red meats as my family can. The heat just insures my kids will leave my turkey burgers alone. They can stick with the boring beef burgers.
Great Turkey Burgers that don't get dry when cooked. I like to adapt the recipie to use without the crackers for my some of my gluten sensitive family members when I have people for 4th of July.
We enjoyed these burgers. I left out the red pepper flakes because my children were eating them. I used onion powder and a garlic and herb seasoning. I didn't grill these, cooked them on the stove. Turned out delicious. Topped with mayo, ketchup, tomato and onion slices and romaine lettuce leaves.
These were fantastic! I added the Hot & Spicy Crackers instead of the Original Plain/cheese kind and these gave the burgers a great added bouns of flavors. I had to say wasn't all the pleasing to mix up, it looked but I am glad I stuck it out and put them on the grill as these really were fantastic! I also loved the red pepper flakes in here. What a great spice to kick this up!
Very good. Even my husband, who usually frowns at turkey burgers, said they were good. I would definitely make them again.
easy and the best turkey burger on the site! the cheese crackers had me wondering but they were perfect to hold it all together and give a great taste. Nice bite with the red pepper so if you prefer it mild you may want to cut back a little there, otherwise take it as is and enjoy!
Excellent Recipe! This is our favorite "burger" recipe. My husband is not one to eat a turkey burger but enjoys this more than the regular hamburger. We use to grill out but there's been a critter residing in our grill. I've been preparing these on our Griddler. They turn out delicious! I cook them 3-4 mins per side. Once they're finished I top them with cheese and plate them. I'll slice some onion and then throw those on the Griddler till they're nice and soft, it really add a nice touch.
These burgers were amazing. My boyfriend says this is probably the best he has ever tried
These burgers turned out great!!!! I used chicken instead of turkey and cut the red pepper flakes down to 1 tsp.
Adjusted recipe to 5 servings because that's how much ground turkey I had. Used 1 tsp of red pepper flakes and that gave a good kick but not too much. Can't imagine 1 or 2 tbsps!! Slapped in a wheat pita with lettuce, tomato & slice of cheddar. Yum!
My hubby said they were a little spicy but he liked them. We will make again.
YUM! These were great. I didn't have any cheese crackers, so I used cheese and garlic croutons. I also used only 1 tsp of the red pepper flakes, I can not imagine using 1 Tbsp!! We ran out of gas in the grill so we grilled them on the George Foreman, and they were fantastic. Definitely my new turkey burger standard recipe.
We've made these three times so far and we love them every time! We don't usually have cheese flavored crackers on hand, so we use Italian bread crumbs and a handful of shredded cheddar cheese instead. Our ground turkey is a little mushy, so these work better cooked in a skillet instead of on the grill. The flavor is so good you don't even need added condiments!
These were great! My favorite turkey burger so far...and they cooked up perfectly on the grill. I used plain Ritz crackers because that's all I had, but I'll pick up a box of cheese crackers just for this recipe. We served them on thin bread instead of burger buns. There were only two of us eating, so I'm looking forward to a leftover patty for lunch tomorrow. Thank you for a great a recipe!!
I really liked the idea with the cheese crackers, but the red flakes really made it too spicy. All I could taste was the pepper flakes and it kind of ruined it for me. I would like to try this recipe again, but I will only use a few sprinkles of red flakes because it was just too much. My suggestion, follow the recipe, but only use a pinch or so of red flakes. I actually used the white cheddar Cheez-Its and put some kraft singles on top.
I didn't change a thing in the recipe. My husband thought these were fairly good and my mother did, too. My father LOVED them and asked for the recipe! Too spicey for my 4-year-old. (And I'm a vegetarian, so while I do the cooking, I don't eat this stuff!)
This recipe was great because I had never thought of flavor cheese crackers in turkey burgers! I also add sheddard parmesan cheese, fresh minced onion, extra virgin olive oil - mades the meat very moist and awesome!
These were great!! I made them exactly as written and they were sooo yummy! They DID have a little spice to them but I liked it
Like many other users, I also made some changes to taste. I used some onion powder in the meat. I topped with pepperjack cheese, and a dollop of chipotle mayo. Served with sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo.
Great Recipe!! But i did make some changes. Instead of garlic powder, i used minced garlic. For the cheese crackers, i had some Goldfish Extreme Blast in my cabinet, so i crushed those. For people who do not like alot of heat in their food...use only (1/2) tablespoon or lessred pepper flakes in the recipe. Very juicy burgers when cooked in a cast iron skillet. Yummy!!
this is really good and easy to make...I make it into a meatloof and add a bit of parmesian cheese and saltines crakers, up the red and green peppers and wow yummy...i think it's the garlic that just makes it taste so good! Excellent, Amy!
These are a favorite of mine. I like these better than traditional hamburgers. I have some tomato & basil wheat thins that I'm thinking about trying next time.
These were really good, but I made a few changes. Instead of garlic powder, I used 2 cloves of pressed garlic. Instead of dried minced onion, I used chopped fresh onion (about 1/4 of a large onion). I also found the entire tbsp of red pepper flakes to be a bit too overpowering, so I plan on cutting down on those next time I make these (which won't be long from now!).
I followed the recipe exactly as written. I was a little worried about the amout of red pepper flakes, but these turned out great. They had the perfect about of kick to them! I will make these again and again.
These were perfect! I cooked them on the George Foreman grill and I made into 5 patties instead of 4. They were very thick and we were worried that they weren't done completely, but sure enough they were and they were great! Topped them with an onion bun, avocado, tomato, monterey jack cheese and they were perfect.
Yum thanks amy for a great recipe! I didnt have cheese crackers so i used saltines then threw in some parmesean cheese. Also added 2 t of A1 sauce to mix. This recipe is so flexible and quick. Bf loved them and even asked how i made these :)
Very nice. Thanks for sharing this low-fat burger- even my husband enjoyed it.
WOW! This was so easy and so good. As a guy I have the "GRILL BUG" and love to cook outside. My girl friend likes to eat lite. WAM! A delicious turkey burger! This was so easy and so de-lish! I used buttered whole wheat buns toasted on the grill then topped the burgers with green leaf, red onion rings, tomato, catsup, spicy mustard, fresh ground pepper and kosher salt. YUM...YUM. She loved it! So did I!!!
So Delicious, great recipe!! I used ritz crackers instead cause it was what I had and used worstchestire instead of red pepper flakes because my kids don't like spicy...awesome burgers...better than red meat in my opinion!
Very Impressed!!! Made these at the Firehouse for a crew of 4 and they loved them. I followed the recipe as shown and the bite these burgers had made it an instant hit. Looking forward to making them again for a larger crew at a different fire station.
This was an exceptional burger. I was expecting it to be like most turkey burgers and not tasting quite right. But, I do have to say this was exceptionally good.
A very simple, very delicious recipe! Topping it with pepper jack cheese works nicely w/the red pepper flakes.
Nice, quick dinner. My kids really liked it, but I don't htink they would have if I had used the full amount of red pepper. You could separate the mixture before adding red pepper for adults.
I've been using ground turkey in place of ground beef for years now so I am no stranger to the turkey burger...THIS WAS AMAZING! I've added this to my recipe book and I'll definitely make it again. It's simple, cheap and easy to make but SOO SOO good! I know everyone on here complained that it was too spicy but I'm a freak so I doubled the red pepper flakes and it was delicious!
This recipe was fabulous! My family recently started eating turkey burgers and the stores in our area stopped selling the prepackaged frozen ones. So, I needed to find a recipe. I altered the recipe to what I had in the house and it was great. I used 2 lbs of ground turkey, 1 tsp of minced garlic, 1 tsp of onion salt, 2 eggs, 1 cup of crushed cheese crackers, and 2 TBS of steak sauce. It was yummy! My kids loved it as well!
These were yummy. I agreed with some reviewers that the garlic was a bit strong so I may have to cut down on it. I used goldfish crackers, but was a bit unsure what crackers added to the taste as well. Update: I’ve made this several times now but with regular breadcrumbs. It’s pretty moist so sometimes I add more than 1/2 cup. I also use fresh onions and garlic sautéed.
Delicious, the crushed red pepper adds a bit of zest; I added a little more than the recipe called for...great with cheddar cheese on top!
These are the best I've had and I have tried several recipes on this site. Fantastic!!!
I didn't particulary care for this, mainly because of the texture. I might try once more and omit the egg to see what happens.
I made this exact recipe, and absolutely loved it!! My boyfriend is a total red meat lover, and I he now asks for these turkey burgers intead of traditional beef burgers. This was a great find!!
I loved these burgers while my boyfriend felt they were just ok. Our usual favourite turkey recipe has cilantro in it but our company was not a fan of the flavour of cilantro. I came across this recipe and was excited to try it out. We added a slice of havarti cheese, it was great!. To me, this is my new favourite recipe and will definately make it again.
My husband and sons are not big fans of ground turkey but I made these turkey burgers and they were a big hit. One thing I did do was reduced the red pepper flakes to 1 tsp. the second time I made them. Perfect for our family!
Love these turkey burgers. Great flavor. Did cut back a little on the red pepper flakes but otherwise followed recipe exactly.
