A good friend gave me this recipe and I've since found it to be so tasty and best of all, easy! My family loves it and it doesn't take long to make at all! It's perfect over angel hair pasta with garlic bread on the side! Double the recipe for larger parties or just for leftovers!

Directions

  • Heat oil and butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic until onion is tender and translucent. Stir in crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes and sun-dried tomatoes. Simmer 5 minutes on medium heat. Add peppers, black olives, green olives and capers. Simmer 15 to 20 minutes on low heat, or until sauce has thickened.

Delicious! I did make a few substitutions due to what I had on hand... 1 c. canned sauce & 1 lg. diced tomato instead of the canned tomatoes. Also substituted sweet cherry peppers & hot pepper flakes for the hot cherry peppers. I'll definitely make it again.

This recipe is satisfactory but for me it isn't a Puttanesca without anchovies so I added them in the second time and it was a four star dish then maybe even five. Some people have an aversion to ancovies so this would be perfect for them.
