  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  • Add sausage to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir with a spatula, breaking apart the sausage until cooked, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate and set aside.

  • Whisk milk, water, and gravy mix together in the same saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until the gravy reaches a boil and thickens, about 8 minutes. Turn off heat and stir in the crumbled sausage.

  • Tear biscuits into pieces. Spread 1/2 of the biscuit pieces in an even layer in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Pour the sausage and gravy mixture over the biscuits. Place the remaining biscuit pieces evenly on top. Sprinkle the dried cranberries over the top.

  • Bake in the preheated oven until the biscuits are golden, about 20 minutes.

What a fantastic recipe! The balance of flavors is sooo good!! The only adjustments I made was to halve the recipe (since it's just hubby and me), added a pinch of red pepper flakes to the gravy, and made the entire thing in my cast iron. I absolutely love the combination of savory sausage, the sweet-tart cranberries, the creamy gravy, and the bit of heat from the red pepper--it's unexpected, and delicious! Plus: it's a gorgeous dish! This was my first time making biscuits and gravy and it was so easy! I loved using store-bought biscuits to keep things really quick. I was skeptical of the cranberries at first but thought they added a nice sweet surprise! I really enjoyed this. Like another reviewer I also halved as it’s just my husband and I. I still baked for 20 minutes, and I used 6 out of 8 of the biscuits from the tube. I did find the bottom layer was still a little doughy. I used 50% less sugar dried cranberries and it was perfect. I don’t particularly love cooking and this was so easy even for me.
