  • Stir quick-mixing flour into the sausage. Pour in milk and stir until well combined.

  • Bring gravy to a boil. Reduce heat and stir until the gravy thickens, 5 to 7 minutes. Taste for seasoning and adjust according to taste. Set aside while preparing the biscuits.

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a baking dish with butter and set aside.

  • Cut each individual biscuit into 4 pieces. Arrange 1/2 of the biscuit pieces in the bottom of the baking dish. Completely cover biscuits with gravy. Place remaining biscuit pieces on top.

  • Bake in the preheated oven until the biscuits are fully cooked and golden brown, 13 to 15 minutes.

  • Remove from the oven and let stand for 3 to 5 minutes before serving.

Cook's Note:

You can reserve a little of the gravy on the side and add it to your plated portion.

Delicious! My whole family gobbled it up. I used regular all-purpose flour and it worked just fine. Read More

After reading the other reviews about the biscuits needing to cook longer and still being soggy, I decided to cut them into eight pieces per biscuit and I baked them for 20 minutes. I used a 9x13-in dish instead of the 9-in square dish that it called for. They turned out fantastic! My usually picky daughter said I should make it often. The sausage gravy was so easy, but the best I've had. Thanks!!! Read More

We really enjoyed this! It did take longer (more like 20-25 min) for the biscuits to brown, so a lot of the gravy had evaporated, but the taste was delicious! Two adults and one child ate 3/4 of the whole casserole! Read More

Delicious! I was highly impressed with my first attempt and I liked making the gravy from scratch instead of pre-packaging items as some recipes call for. Read More

We love Jimmy Dean sausage! This casserole was easy to cook up and absolutely delicious. I didn’t have garlic powder so I added minced garlic to the skillet with the rest of the herbs. The only thing I didn’t like was that the biscuits towards the bottom didn’t cook at all in the middle even though the ones on top were browned. Next time I’ll leave it in for longer than 16 minutes so that the lower middle biscuits won’t be raw dough. Read More

I made this recipe for my family for breakfast. It was easy and delish. I did cut back on the milk by half a cup. After reading some reviews on the bottom being a bit soggy. I also cut my raw biscuits in half to make them thinner ( like as if you were going to be buttering it) then i cut those into 4 pieces. I did the same for the top biscuits as well. I cooked my casserole for a total of 23 minutes. it came out perfect even the biscuits on the bottom. I would have given this 5 stars based on flavor alone but I have to say it took all three of my children some real convincing to get them to eat this solely on the way it looked on the plate. We love Jimmy dean in this house so that was helpful. I have to say when they started to dig in they ate every bit of it and even had more the next day. Read More

I really like this recipe. The flavor was good. The only difference in the recipe that I would do next time is make more gravy with it. The biscuits soaked up almost all the gravy. Also it took me about 20 minutes to brown the biscuits.I also didn’t see on the recipe unless I missed it, what size pan to put it in. Read More
