Directions

Instructions Checklist
  • Place tofu onto a plate lined with several paper towels. Cover with more paper towels and another plate. Set a 3- to 5-pound weight on top and press tofu for 30 minutes. Drain and discard any accumulated liquid and cut tofu into 1/2-inch cubes.

  • Place cubed tofu in a bowl and drizzle with sesame oil. Gently stir and let sit for 20 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, make bang bang sauce by whisking mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and Sriracha sauce together until smooth. Place panko in a separate bowl.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

  • Mix tofu with 1/2 cup bang bang sauce until evenly combined. Coat tofu in the panko bread crumbs and place in the basket of the air fryer, making sure tofu pieces do not overlap. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to do this in batches.

  • Cook for 5 minutes. Shake and cook for 3 minutes more. Garnish with green onion and serve with remaining bang bang sauce.

I made this because I had a container of tofu in my fridge and wasn't sure what I was going to use it for. This was delicious and my family ate it all up. However, I only had firm tofu, not extra firm. Maybe that is why the tofu broke up into a lot of little pieces and I wasn't able to use about 1/3 of it. It made so many little pieces - I would probably make larger pieces if I do this again. It was a lot to cut up, then dip in sauce and bread before frying them all in the air fryer. I have the larger size air fryer and it took many batches to get everything cooked. This recipe calls for a lot of sauce - we had a lot left over. But I was able to use the leftover the next night when I made Bang Bang Shrimp! Read More

Oh my goodness! This is so delicious. It’s addictive. I used a sheet of parchment paper in the basket for the first five minutes. The amount of sauce could be reduced by half. I used leftover sauce on some air fried chicken. Another keeper recipe. Read More
