"Trail-tested power and energy bars. These granola-style bars are my mix and mod of a couple of recipes, mostly Amy E's "Bird Seed Energy Bars" ... they made it 6 days from Mammoth to Yosemite Valley."

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x14-inch baking pan.
  2. Mix rolled oats, whole wheat flour, cereal, brown sugar, and cinnamon together in a large bowl.
  3. Whisk banana, eggs, oil, applesauce, maple syrup, honey, vanilla extract, and salt together in a separate bowl until evenly blended. Stir into the oat mixture. Stir in flax seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, chocolate chips, banana chips, walnuts, almonds, and peanut butter.
  4. Use your hands to mix the ingredients, and press into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven until edges are golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes. Cool completely in the pan, about 30 minutes. Cut into 2-inch bars.


  • Cook's Notes:
  • You can use chopped multi-grain bran flakes instead of wheat and barley cereal.
  • Use canola oil instead of vegetable oil if desired.
