This was certainly easy! As suggested, you will have to adjust the time based on the size of your chicken breasts. Mine were on the small-medium side, so I did 30 minutes total. I roasted the breasts initially for 10 minutes, then added the sauce and continued cooking for another 20. I didn't find any reason to add the sauce on twice. This will only be as good as the sauce you use, so use one you love! I used my homemade maple whiskey BBQ sauce. Next time I would grill the chicken, but this turned out pretty good for the oven.
Easy and delicious! Great recipe for beginners!
Yum!!! and obviously super easy!!! We brined first with garlic cloves, cayenne, bay leaves and baked with the garlic cloves on the chicken and used Rufus Teague BBQ. And balsamic bacon reduction sauteed asparagus.
I don't know what the one star reviewers are bellyaching about. I appreciate the directions for cooking the chicken. We like the sauce but had always put it on later and now I will just put it on in the oven. Less mess if you ask me. I also can see the potential for using other sauces or "basting" type recipes. It is the "method" that I was looking for.
Not everyone is an experienced cook and this would be a helpful starter for a novice. I make something similar all the time adding a sliced onion, garlic and whatever else I fancy.
Thanks, Grumpy Grandpa. It was too windy to grill, so I needed guidance re: oven temp and timing. Your recipe was so helpful and tasty. I cut the large bone-in breasts in half with kitchen shears. I followed temperature guidance, but needed less time in oven. I used my favorite sauce. Would only add to check temp (165) with meat thermometer.
This definitely my go to recipe for BBQ Chicken Breast - My oven runs hotter so I tweaked it down a bit. The skin is crispy and the meat is tender.
Wow. Two of the three reviews before mine here gave one star because it was their opinions that this wasn't a "recipe", (which, in fact, it is, according to Webster.) Reviews are supposed to be your evaluation of the dish after you make it according to the directions. This is ALLrecipes...easy and complicated. A brand new cook may find this helpful. These very simple common sense meals that we sometimes forget about are great for every day dinners. Save the 30-step, 50 ingredient recipes for special occasions. I'm giving this 5 stars because it is easy, quick, and tastes good.
