Feel free to experiment with cake and pudding flavors, but butterscotch chips do not work well in this recipe.
For a super-easy glaze that goes excellently with these brownies, simply melt a can of your favorite chocolate frosting in a small saucepan over low heat and pour over the slightly-cooled brownies in the pan. You can cut the brownies first to allow the glaze to go down the sides of each one if you like. Add any sprinkles or other toppings while the frosting glaze is still wet; then allow the glaze and the brownies to cool completely before adding any other frosting decorations.
