Mulling Spices for Cider

This delicious mix of mulling spices and fresh lemon zest will liven up your cup of cider. You may mix the spices ahead of time and add the lemon zest when you are ready to mull the cider.

  • 3 cinnamon sticks

  • ½ teaspoon whole cloves

  • teaspoon ground allspice

  • teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • ½ lemon, zested


  1. Combine cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, and nutmeg in an airtight container. Add lemon zest when making mulled cider.


This mix is enough for 1 liter of cider (4 cups), approximately eight 4-ounce servings.

You can substitute 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon for the cinnamon sticks and 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves for the whole cloves.
