Amish Chocolate Pudding


This is my Amish grandmother's recipe and I've never tasted any chocolate pudding that compares to it.

  • 2 cups milk, or more as needed

  • 2 cups white sugar

  • cup cocoa powder

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 4 egg yolks

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Combine milk, sugar, cocoa, and flour in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly. Add egg yolks and turn heat up to medium-high, continuing to stir, until thick, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Serve warm or chilled.

Cook's Note:

Make sure to use 4 heaping tablespoons of all-purpose flour.
