Four ingredients only, for a chocolate cherry dump cake that is moist and delicious and packed with flavor. Great for a short-notice dessert.

I used chocolate chunk brownie mix instead of cake mix. It turned out delicious.

I’ve been making this recipe for 49 years. Mine calls for a Devils Food Chocolate Cake Mix. And besides the eggs and cherries mine calls for a 1/2 cup of sour cream. And I use the Store bought Whipped Sour Cream Frosting.
Chocolate and cherry are one of my favorite flavor combinations...especially when paired with almond extract like this recipe does. It is easy to prepare which is another plus and it has ingredients that I usually have on hand. I made as directed and in addition, I lined my pan with parchment paper for easy removal. This took 50 minutes in my convection oven to bake. It was still jiggly in the middle at 40 minutes so I kept checking at 5 minute intervals. I'm not a fan of the aftertaste that canned frosting has so I will likely prepare a homemade frosting next time.
I made the Chocolate-Cherry dump cake using chocolate fudge cake mix and a container of chocolate fudge frosting. I didn't have almond extract so used no extract. This cake was so moist and delicious especially for this chocolate lover!

My oh my. landladyv, you have made some picky dessert eaters quite happy. We made it just as instructed. Yes, it took an extra 10 minutes to get the wooden skewer to come clean from the center, but other than that, no problems. Used parchment paper for easier removal from the pan. Definitely going into the dessert rotation. Next time might sprinkle some almond shavings and toast them on top.
This cake was fantastic and so easy to make and very moist. I baked it in a 9-inch round cake pan and frosted it with the Best Chocolate Frosting by Michelle Ann. It looked great on a round platter.
Very good cake! Every bite screams cherry! I did have to cook it an extra 10 minutes to cook the center.
This is a very easy and delicious recipe. I didn't frost it because I was lazy. It was still very moist and I recommend this for an easy go-to!
So easy to make. So moist and delicious! I used sugar free cake mix and no sugar added pie filling to make it more diabetic friendly. Topped with sugar free whipped topping for a wonderful treat
