Avocado Bread

An unconventional, delicious way to eat whole grains and fruit! This bread incorporates whole wheat flour, cornmeal, and avocados. Yogurt is used to provide good texture without unhealthy fats. Everyone will love this wholesome but addictive bread.

  • cooking spray

  • 1 ¼ cups whole wheat flour

  • ½ cup cornmeal

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice

  • ¾ cup white sugar

  • cup plain yogurt

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 avocados, mashed

  • ½ cup milk

  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.

  2. Mix whole wheat flour, cornmeal, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and allspice together in a bowl.

  3. Stir sugar and yogurt together in another bowl. Beat in eggs, followed by avocados. Fold in flour mixture until batter is just moistened. Stir in milk and poppy seeds. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the loaf comes out clean, about 50 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.
