- Combine water, fructose, vinegar, tomato paste, date sugar, molasses, liquid smoke, salt, onion powder, pepper, mustard, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne in a medium saucepan over high heat. Whisk until smooth. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, until thick, about 45 minutes.
- Let BBQ sauce cool. Pour into a container. Cover and refrigerate.
