  1. Combine sifted flour and butter in the bowl of a food processor; pulse until crumbly. Add egg and pulse until just combined.
  2. Dissolve salt in warm water. Add gradually to the food processor and pulse until a soft dough ball forms. Turn ball into a bowl and wrap tightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes.
  3. Dust a work surface with flour and knead dough for 1 minute. Roll out thinly and cut into discs. Freeze discs for later use or use right away for your favorite sweet or savory empanadas.

I would like to make a suggestion. Use lentles and vegetables for a vegetarian filling

The dough was really good, i did have to add more water to make it come together.

Simple and came out perfect for my empanadas.

quick, easy to make, easy to work with. made 12 "discs" with re-rolling scraps after cutting. so fast I am about to make another batch now.

I used this recipe for my first ever attempt at empanadas. Turned out great exactly as written! Kids loved them too. Thank you for sharing.

I made recipe, but added 1 tsp. Baking powder. The dough turned out to be just a little bit more flaky, which I really liked. Other than that it's a great recipe.
