  1. Take each spear of asparagus and break it towards the end, wherever it naturally snaps, to remove woody ends. Place asparagus in a microwave-safe glass container with a lid. Pour in water.
  2. Roll lemon on a flat work surface to release the juices; slice in half. Squeeze each half over the asparagus. Sprinkle with pepper and garlic powder.
  3. Cover container and place in the microwave. Cook on high until tender-crisp, 5 to 6 minutes. Drain and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

The taste was good, but the asparagus really needed to be cooked a little bit longer. Maybe 8 - 10 minutes.

I added a sprinkle of Romano fresh grated cheese (Parmesan fresh grated works too) and it really peeked flavor...just a sprinkle for flavor and don’t smother it.....YUMMMM. My husband who hates...

Super simple and full of flavor. My only complaint is that 5 minutes was too long. It got overcooked and soggy. My micro does seem to be pretty potent though. Next time I will start at 3 minutes...
