  • Place ground beef in a large skillet. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease. Transfer beef to a slow cooker.

  • Combine tomatoes, green pepper, water, tomato sauce, onions, rice, salt, chili powder, and Worcestershire sauce in the slow cooker. Stir thoroughly. Cover and cook on Low until rice is tender, 6 to 8 hours.

Cook's Notes:

Add 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper to give it a spicy kick!

You can also cook on High for 3 hours.

I made two different spanish rice recipes on the same day and this one had the better flavor hands down. It doesn't turn out very pretty but it has good flavor. The one thing I will say is that 1 onion and 1 bell pepper is more than plenty. That is what I did and they both still took over the rice. On that note I will double the rice next time and just add more liquid if needed. Read More

I made the recipe as printed. 5 stars because it came out of the slow cooker ready to serve. My attempt came out more moist than traditional Spanish Rice, but not wet or sloppy. Very mild, so it lends itself to seasoning adjustment. Not a not noticeable beef flavor, so I will be adjusting the beef flavor next time I use this convenient recipe. Thanks for posting this recipe.
