  • Beat the egg yolks, then add the milk, sugar, wine, vanilla and cinnamon. Soak the slices of Bauducco Panettone in the egg mixture.

  • Beat the whole eggs, then dip the slices of soaked Panettone on both sides. Drip dry and fry the slices in the butter until they're golden brown.

  • To make the syrup, add all of the ingredients but vanilla to a saucepan on high heat and stir until it boils. Add the vanilla and continue boiling until it thickens.

Tip:

When to tell that the syrup is ready: scoop some up with a spoon, when you get a steady drizzle instead of separate drops it is ready.

Yeah....made this......foundation of recipe is ok, I suppose. Panettone has a pretty high moisture content to start with. Cut and let sit over night to dry out and that still didn't help. For adjustments, maybe consider toasting the cinnamon sticks first, then grate one to the teaspoon measurement for the batter. Remove the sugar from the custard batter mix and don't do the double dip in beaten whole egg after soaking the slices. That, or slice your panetone and give it a month to dry out. Lol Expect a much longer cooking time than regular French toast on a medium heat (I finally got some decent pieces after 5 min on medium) and then let the cooked piece sit for a while in order to allow them to set up Following recipe to the letter just produces sliced, half cooked bread pudding that is SUPER sweet.
