"This fruit butter is not too sweet and is a family favorite. Store in an airtight container or can. This is a great holiday present. I cover the lid with a pretty piece of cloth and add a handmade ornament for the top. Everyone loves this and always asks for more."

  1. Combine apples, pears, and apple juice in a saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until apples and pears are soft, about 1 1/2 hours.
  2. Stir in honey, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Cook over low heat for 2 hours more, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat; mash fruit with potato masher. Allow to cool completely, at least 20 minutes. Transfer to a blender and blend until smooth. Return to the saucepan over low heat; cook, uncovered, stirring often, until thickened, about 30 minutes.
