  1. Heat butter and oil in a skillet over medium heat until butter is melted, about 1 minute. Add fennel to skillet; cook and stir until beginning to soften, about 5 minutes. Add onion; season with salt and pepper. Cook and stir until onion is translucent and fennel is tender, 5 to 7 minutes.

1.28.18 This is the first time I’ve cooked fennel, and I just expected more flavor. As directed, I sauteed only the bulb slices, but I did cut some of the stalks, and their aroma was wonderful...

This was a quick and tasty way to use fennel bulbs! I agree the fennel flavor was subtle, but I prefer that!
