  • Mix water, oats, and a dash of salt together in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on 50% power until oatmeal is chewy and tender, about 5 minutes. Stir. Mix in butter, seasoning blend, salt, and pepper. Let stand for 1 minute before serving.

Cook's Notes:

Substitute margarine or the oil of your choice for the butted if desired.

If you like, you may add a little sugar for sweetness, but I like it without.

This is as good as steamed shredded wheat with salt, pepper, and butter; another wonderful savory dish I enjoy in the morning.

Maybe savory oatmeal like this is an aquired taste. I'm sorry to give this a bad rating but I did not like it. The vegetable seasoning was just not good in it. Just salt and pepper would have been better. I added some sundried tomatoes to give it a bit more flavor and that helped. I ended up adding some crumbled sausage and a sprinkle of parmesan.
