  • Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add rice, garlic powder, and salt. Pour in boiling water to cover rice by about 1 inch; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until water is absorbed and rice is tender, 20 to 30 minutes.

Even easier fool proof method. Cook rice as directed until you get to the simmer on low part. Instead place pot of rice in an oven which has been pre-heated to 300 and turned off. Let the rice sit in the oven, covered, for half an hour while you prepare the rest of your meal. Fluffy perfect rice every time even if you have a gas stove which loves to burn the rice on the bottom of the pan. I can't get my flame down low enough to make a god pot of rice without some burning on the bottom. Read More

I don't alter recipes if I'm going to review them. So I followed this simple recipe because I wanted to make white rice. Been around Puerto Ricans who taught me a different way to make white rice, and it's Never worked out good for me. I tried this way because it seemed simple and easy, and wala!!
