Indian Taco

"This recipe is one that I have been making for many years, and my family loves it. Bannock is a fried flatbread that is great with anything, try different toppings and see what you get. Serve with your choice of sides, such as sour cream or guacamole."

  1. Mix flour, salt, and baking powder together in a bowl. Stir in enough water to make a dough. Divide dough into 4 pieces and form into 6-inch patties.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry patties in batches until puffed and golden, about 5 minutes per side.
  3. Place bannocks on serving plates and top with chili, tomato, Cheddar cheese, and lettuce.

  • Cook's Note:
  • Homemade chili is always best but a good canned chili works great as well.
