  • Combine water, lentils, and salt in a saucepan. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat; stir in balsamic vinegar and sugar. Cover and continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until lentils are tender, about 20 minutes.

Cook's Note:

The lentils should soak up most of the water, but ensure there is enough moisture in the pan to prevent the lentils from sticking and burning by adding a little extra water if needed.

This was simple and tasty, but we found it a little sweet, possibly because the balsamic vinegar we use is thick and syrupy and sweet, and the sugar we used may be sweeter than normal white sugar. Will definitely make it again, with adjustments (less sugar). Read More
