  1. Bring water, pumpkin puree, brown sugar, white sugar, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice to a simmer in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir until thickened to syrup consistency, 10 to 12 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and cool syrup, about 5 minutes. Stir in vanilla extract; cool to room temperature.

i cut each sugar by half....if you use pumpkin pie spice blend why are you also adding the individual spices? One of the other is sufficient. Pumpkin pie spice blend is cinnamon, ginger, allspi...

Way, way, WAY too much ginger. Because it sounded like too much ginger, I cut the ginger in half. Half was still too much ginger. Couldn't even taste the pumpkin because so much spice.

I made this last year and gave them out as gifts. This year a made an even bigger batch. I also add some cloves when cooking.
