A super delicious meal, very similar to a pasta carbonara...added the egg to this to make an irresistible pasta-egg-bacon-cheese combo. What I did differently: after frying the bacon, removed from pan to drain & cool down for crumbling later...then drained all but 2T of the bacon grease, added one T of olive oil...then added some diced onion. Sprinkled the garlic oil over this, added the frozen peas, crumbled the bacon over & added all this to the pan with linguine just before the step adding the cream). Mixed 3 eggs very well, added the parmesan cheese into this, and then quickly stirred into the linguine. Very easy, very amazing, and so deserving of 5 stars. Thanks, Barilla Pronto!!!

10-18-2015 ~First, I did not use the Barilla Pronto linguine. Not sure I’m interested either. But the recipe itself is good. Darned good. And to tell you the truth, I didn’t even cook regular linguine. I just used pasta leftover from last night, and what a way to repurpose leftovers! The pasta already was flavored with garlic, olive oil, butter and parsley, so I just gave it a splash of cream, nuked it, and once heated through stirred in the cheese, peas and cooked, crumbled bacon. Awesome good, and a fine complement for the Cod in Tomatoes with Wine, also from this site, that I served it with. I may have served this as a side dish, but because it was so creamy and flavorful with its extras of cheese, bacon and peas, it certainly didn’t take a back seat to the entrée.
This was one of the best new products I've tried in awhile! I can say after this dish that my pantry will probably never be without Barilla Pronto pasta. I was amazed how well this turned out. I tweaked it to our taste. First, I made my bacon in the oven. Then I poured about 2 T. of the bacon grease in a skillet and sautéed half an onion and garlic in it until tender. I removed the onion and garlic and added the water, pasta, peas and I added salt also. I boiled the 10 minutes and then added the 1/2 cup of cream. It didn't take long for the cream to cook out. I turned off the heat and mixed in the reserved bacon, onions and garlic. Then I stirred in the parmesan and 3 beaten eggs. I served this with a very generous sprinkling of freshly grated black pepper and Voila! This was outstanding! I will be making this again!
I made this for my husband, 9 year old daughter and 2 year old son. I liked it. I did saute chopped onion and mushrooms in leftover bacon grease and added those the final dish. This dish needs more sauce. The sauce does completely absorb into the noodles and isn't as thick as I would like. This is a decent weeknight meal for eaters who like peas.
I used this recipe for inspiration and my version turned out great!! I cooked rotini separately (because that's what I had), then after cooking bacon I tossed in leftover cubed cooked chicken and some boullion granules to the peas, garlic, etc. Delish!!
This is the Rice Krispies Treats of pasta, too easy to be so good. This was delicious and all 8 people in the household (with varying food preferences) enjoyed it. I did use an entire one pound package of bacon, because I love bacon. PERFECT. Later, I found that when some of my tomatoes and green onions from my salad rolled into the pasta, that was a nice, fresh addition. I might even mix them into the pasta next time. I will make this again.
My husband went crazy for this sauce. I did add grilled chicken breast and it was an amazing meal in one pan! He was also very happy with clean up! lol
Delicious and super simple! My picky almost 2 year old really liked this one as did my 16 year old, myself, and my sister. I simmered off the liquid a little too quickly, so would watch the boil and keep it pretty low next time so the pasta can cook and not reduce the liquid too much, or just add a splash more cream or chicken broth if needed if it does get too dry at the end. A sprinkling of parsley on top would be nice as well. I used grated Parmesan in place of Romano since that's what I had on hand and a mixed frozen veggie mix instead of just peas. A definite keeper!
Loved this! I did add an extra cup of water at the beginning of cooking as the recipe stated to cover the pasta. I drained the extra off about half way through but I wish I hadn't because I did feel it was a little dry. My son who is going away to college plans to take this recipe with him. Everyone was after seconds but my daughter missed out and was mad because there was none left for her. I may have to double this recipe next time. Thank you Barilla for a great easy to use and great tasting product.
I made this according to the recipe as this was my first time making this dish. I was tempted to make a few changes after reading other reviewers suggestions. However, I stayed true to the recipe for the first attempt. I loved this dish as is...but I am sure that adding a little more liquid (whether it be cream or water) would improve the overall appeal. GREAT RECIPE and SUPER EASY!!
I added, onions, mushrooms and fresh garlic which I sauteed after the bacon, using the same pan to get all of the good bits out of the pan. I used fresh pasta and added 3 eggs to the cheese as others suggested. AWESOME!!!!!
Great for a quick, easy one pan dish! Bacon adds the perfect crunch & frozen peas are a great burst of flavor.
This was such a quick and delicious meal! But I couldn't cook the pasta on 'high' as stated in the direction because the pasta was getting stuck to the bottom of the skillet and beginning to burn. So after about 5 minutes I turned the heat down to medium. I also doubled the amount of cream because the pasta was too dry. I used 1/2 a teaspoon of kosher salt in the pasta water and added 1/4 teaspoon of pepper with the cream mixture. I used a 3 oz. packaged bacon bits instead of making bacon. It worked perfectly. I love the smokiness from the bacon bits combined with the cream and parmesan cheese. I will definitely be making this again! Thank Barilla!
For a simple and fast meal this is really good. I forgot to add some salt with the water, for me - pasta must be cooked with salt, you just can't add enough after the fact. Serve with a green salad and you have dinner on the table in 12 minutes.
I used courgette /zucchini noodles instead of pasta, I also used puréed garlic instead on garlic powder. Was yummy will make it again. Read someone had used leftover pasta that had been cooked with garlic and parsley. Sounds like this could take it up another notch or two. Considering throwing in some chives next time I cook it. Really simple and tasty
This was great! I was a bit unsure about this new cooking process but was so pleased with the results. So easy to make and I will now have this in my regular rotation. Lots of options to add to it too!
I did make this but used egg noodles instead. Turned out great! Must serve right away! It gets cold fast. Super easy!
I didn't expect to like this as much as I did, but it really was delicious. It was the second time I tried the Barilla Pronto Pasta, and I really like the ease of it. I can't call this a one pot meal, because I had to cook the bacon in another skillet - but this was still a very fast and easy dish to make. The linguine wanted to stick together and to the pan, so I had to keep stirring pretty much the whole time. I added some freshly minced garlic in addition to the garlic powder. Topped with a healthy amount of freshly cracked black pepper, sea salt, and small handful of additional parmesan. Yum!
It's pasta carbonara without the eggs. Since I don't like eggs, that's an instant win in my book, but others may not agree. Adding 1/4 cup chopped green onions and simmering until the cream is almost completely reduced bumps this up to 5 stars, easy!
Looking for a quick and satisfying dish? Look no further - this dish delivers! The pasta is easy to cook, and everything comes together simply - with a delicious result! I may have used a touch more liquid, as we wanted a nice creamy sauce. Serve with a nice salad and some garlic bread, and enjoy!
After frying the bacon I sautéed two cloves of minced garlic, set aside and add it to the cream instead of using the garlic powder. It's basically an alfredo sauce with bacon and peas. YUM!
Make sure to stir the pasta as it cooks, and have bacon prepared before hand. I tried to cook bacon at same time and didn't get to stir pasta and it stuck to bottom of pan.
Lots of flavor for something fast and simple.
very good recipe. I added pesto, Chicken, & topped with tomatos.
