Rhode Island Clam Chowder without Bacon
This is my dad's famous clam chowder. He'd make 8 times the recipe because the whole family was waiting in line for their quart to take home.

Cook's Notes:
May substitute bacon in lieu of salt pork. We have also used large can of clams. Found that adding the clams at the very end prevented them from getting tough.
