We really liked this soup! It tasted exactly like my cabbage roll recipe. I adjusted the seasoning a bit as I was concerned about the amounts. I used 2 tbsps brown sugar, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tsp white sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, 1/4 tsp onion powder, 1/4 tsp garlic powder and 1/4 tsp salt free Cajun seasoning mix. I had a can of tomato sauce that was 680 ml and I used that for the water amount as well. I was able to omit the oil as I used a non stick sauce pan. I was able to make it in a hour exactly as the shredded cabbage in the bag is fine and cooks fast. I served over rice as I make my cabbage rolls with rice and meat. Next time I would definitely double the recipe as we ate it in one sitting, I am feeding two growing boys! Thanks for a great new recipe :) Read More

I didn't like the sugar in it. It was too sweet for me anyway. I'll make this again without sugar...then I'll update. Read More

I made this exactly the way recipe said to and it was so good! My husband and daughter thought it was a little too sweet, but they still liked it. Next time I will cut out the brown sugar and only add the white sugar. Personally, I thought it was perfectly sweet. It tasted just like a cabbage roll! This soup is going into our rotation for sure. Everyone loved it. Only changes I made was the addition of white rice which then needed more water. I added a beef bullion cube so it didn't get too watered down. Don't over do the sugar since it is on the sweet side. Read More

Very good! I only used a tablespoon of brown sugar and left out the white sugar. We prefer spicy to sweet. Next time I will leave out all the sugar. I had canned cabbage so I subbed that for fresh. Soup tasted very good and I will make it again! Read More

Yum! I followed the recipe almost exactly. Skipped the brown sugar as others noted how it was too sweet. And I cooked it in an instant pot on high for 15 minutes, with a 30 minute natural release. I also added paprika and 2 minced garlic cloves. Read More

I made this in my instant pot. I sautéed the ground beef and onions on the sauté setting, then added the remaining ingredients and cooked on the soup setting under high pressure for 30 minutes. I used an entire 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes and only 1 cup of water, and I originally added only 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and no white sugar, based on the many reviews indicating it was too sweet as written. It was delicious, and the cabbage was nice and tender, but it didn’t taste like cabbage rolls... until we added more sugar. Then the cabbage roll flavor magically appeared. I will definitely make this again, but next time I’ll use the full amount of sugar. Read More

I doubled the beef, onion, cabbage, and tomato sauce. I only put in 2 cups beef bouillon to replace the water, and I didn't double any other ingredient as had been suggested by others. I used my electric pressure cooker, I fried my onions and meat together on the fry setting, and added the other ingredients and then cooked it on pressure setting for 7 minutes. I had to be careful with the quick release since the ingredients were over the max line (that's why I didn't add all the water). I served it with white rice, and garlic flat bread. We ALL loved it!
