- Place bacon strips on a microwave-safe plate and cook in the microwave until crisp, about 2 minutes. Cool and crumble bacon.
- Stir butter and bacon into beans in the pot and return to medium heat; cook and stir until butter melts, 2 to 3 minutes. Add garlic; cook and stir until fragrant, 3 to 4 minutes. Top with lemon zest and stir.
Footnotes
- Cook's Notes:
- Remove the bacon for a healthier dish. However, adding the bacon is a great option that adds great flavor to the beans.

My family loved this recipe but I will cut down on the butter next time I make it.
Way too much butter in this recipe and we love butter, very disappointed this is the first recipe on this app that was not something I would ever make again!

Quick and easy. The lemon zest gave it a nice pop of flavor.

Easy to make & pretty tasty. After reading the reviews, I decided to use one stick of butter instead of two and it was plenty.
A bit too much butter for our taste; but, I will certainly serve it again, just with less butter. Other than that, we loved it!!
We made this for Christmas, and it was fantastic! As one reviewer mentioned, it was indeed swimming in butter. Next time, I'll try just one stick, instead of two.
Great flavor. As others have indicated, kind of an absurd amount of butter. We also added more garlic and baked the bacon. Yum! Great Thanksgiving side dish!
Great recipe! Easy to make and delicious. Next time I will use less butter.
