Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons Chinese five-spice powder

  • 3 tablespoons white sesame seeds

  • 2 tablespoons white sugar

  • 1 tablespoon ground white pepper

  • 1 tablespoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 ½ teaspoons Sichuan pepper powder

  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground anise seed

  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground black pepper

  • ¾ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Directions

  1. Mix Chinese five-spice powder, sesame seeds, sugar, white pepper, salt, ground ginger, garlic powder, Sichuan pepper powder, ground anise, black pepper, and red pepper flakes together in a jar; seal and shake to mix.

Cook's Note:

Lightly coat shrimp or ahi tuna with sesame oil before rolling in the spice rub. Make sure to coat evenly.
