Thousand Island Dressing Mastered


I love a rich dressing that works with anything from sauce for fish, corned beef for reubens, on salads, and with only small alterations for each. For fish, add a little more relish or horseradish. My family is old-school picky, and I finally figured out how to please them all.

  • 1 cup mayonnaise

  • cup chili sauce

  • ¼ cup sweet pickle relish

  • 1 hard-boiled egg, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon minced onion

  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, or more to taste

  • ¼ teaspoon white sugar

  • ¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper


  1. Mix mayonnaise, chili sauce, relish, egg, onion, garlic, lemon juice, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper together in a bowl; refrigerate until chilled.
