Directions

Instructions Checklist
  • Place bacon in a large skillet over medium-low heat; cook until just crisp, about 10 minutes. Transfer bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, reserving bacon grease in skillet.

  • Increase heat to medium-high under skillet; saute Brussels sprouts in the bacon grease until lightly browned, 2 to 3 minutes. Add garlic to Brussels sprouts; saute until garlic is fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Pour chicken stock over Brussels sprouts mixture and cover skillet with a lid; simmer until Brussels sprouts are bright green, 4 to 5 minutes. Remove lid and continue simmering until liquid is evaporated and sprouts are tender, about 5 more minutes.

  • Remove skillet from heat and stir bacon, butter, vinegar, salt, and pepper into Brussels sprouts mixture until butter is melted.

Very tasty. I followed this recipe to the letter. It’s way too soft and soggy due to, I would guess, the chicken stock. The last time I made it I found a similar recipe that lacks the balsamic vinegar, and chicken stock. Everything else was basically the same. That recipe was much better and the leftovers were still tasty. Read More

This was good and glad I tried it. Followed the recipe except for Step 2. I just browned the Brussels sprouts and garlic in the oven instead of sauteing them on top of the stove. Thanks Kyle! Read More

I like this recipe because it is so simple and the cook can change the amount of ingredients "to taste" without altering the recipe. I personally LOVE garlic. So I put much more garlic than 1 clove. However, some people are sensitive to too much garlic and will be pleased with only one. I tend to see too many AllRecipe cooks rave at a recipe and then proceed to change it by adding or substituting an ingredient. It is no longer the recipe then Folks. Read More

Really good. Added some fresh parmesan at the end and it worked well. Love this because it is so easy, no special ingredients and is an amazing way to get kids to eat vegetables...our girls loved it. I used pancetta instead of bacon...I find it better for cooking in situations like this. Read More

This was really good. I didn't use all the bacon grease because it seemed like too much. My husband said they tasted like something you get at a restaurant. Will definitely make again! Read More

Made it as written and it was very good. But I felt that it could do with less bacon/drippings and would still be good. The method of preparations was simple. I think that next time, and there will be a next time, that I would reduce the amount of the bacon/drippings and the butter. With all the fat that's in this recipe, it turns a very healthy side dish into one that's high in calories and fats. Read More
