Creamy Herbed Pork Chops
This is one of the best comfort meals I have ever had. It is so creamy and delicious you won't want to stop eating.

I just browned the pork chops and made the sauce as directed then put everything in a casserole dish. Baked, covered, at 350F for 1 hour. Very tender and tasted great!

This was superb! I pan fried thick center loin pork chops in the butter. They came out to perfection, and the pan drippings were perfect for the gravy. Some of us have to fiddle with these recipes, and it was no exception in this case. I added Herbs de Provence to the gravy that took it over the top! I would also suggest that the beef bouillon is not needed as I think it would overpower the pork flavor. The chops were moist and tender at 9 minutes per side on a medium gas heat. All in all, simple and delicious!
If this isn't comfort food, I don't know what is. I poured the "sauce" over mashed potatoes. NO leftovers. My kids and husband actually asked why didn't I just double this recipe so they could have had more.
I hate when people rate then change the recipe. I made it exactly as written "but" I only had thin bone in pork chops - cooked them for half the time and the flavor of this gravy was incredible. I also made mashed potatoes to go with the gravy and my boyfriend responded over and over again 'this is good' 'this is reallyyyyy good'. I had to agree so this is going into my recipe box under~ fit for company~. Thank you so much Cassie for a great recipe.
I usually don't rate a recipe if I have to change it but this recipe has great beginnings! I was out of beef bouillon so I left it out and changed the amount of basil from 1 3/4 tsp. to 1 tsp. I was afraid it was to much basil for our taste. I added a dash of onion powder and garlic powder. I ended up adding more milk because the gravy was a little thick. It tasted great-the pork was tender and juicy. I will definitely be making it again. Next time I'll try some diced onion, minced garlic and maybe some mushrooms.
I followed this almost exactly, except I didn't measure the Montreal Steak seasoning...I just sprinkled it on both sides of the pork and I think it was less than a teaspoon. The basil and steak seasoning work great together in this recipe. It was DELICIOUS and I will make it again!!
This is a absolutely amazing! We made a few tweaks as follows, but only because of ingredient availability. - Didn't have dry beef bouillon, used the Better Than Bouillon stuff that comes in a jar. Not too salty at all. - Short on milk, so used 1/2 milk and 1/2 half and half. - Only had 3 pork chops so we had extra gravy which was awesome because it is delicious. - We cooked the gravy about 2 minutes extra. Seriously, this is an AWESOME recipe!
My entire family loved this. I made exactly as written except I left out the bouillon (it was plenty salty without it) and I sauteed some fresh mushrooms to put in the gravy. I thought the gravy was a little too white/cream for me, so next time I may try some beef broth and a splash of heavy cream in place of the milk. Overall, though, it was a hit.
Very good and easy to make. I will be very careful next time to use very little of the montreal seasoning (a bit salty). The gravy was excellent on mashed potatoes. Will make again
This was the best pork chop recipe I've tried yet! I used canola oil instead of butter (not as much) and chicken bouillon since I didn't have beef. I will definitely be making this again!
This was a fabulous recipe! I had thin pork chops(boneless) and I didn't have the Montreal steak seasoning. I browned the pork chops as directed but in my flour I used crushed rosemary, ground thyme,Black pepper, dill, beef bouillon granules and salt. The sauce was awesome!!
Use grass-fed butter for this recipe. It will knock your socks off. The only other suggestion I would make would be to use the Montreal seasoning sparingly. Really, a dash or two on each side will do. Also, if you use electric instead of gas, cook pork chops on med-high too.
This was so good! My bf loved it so definitely a keeper. I followed the recipe although I just sprinkled (not measured) the Montreal Seasoning on the chops so probably used less. I also did not use all the butter because I didn't need it.
As a teen trying to cook to help my mom, I don't generally venture to unknown food territory; however, tonight that was my best decision ever. I didn't have the steak seasoning, so I made my own, and I used chicken bouillon instead of beef... My mom said that I made better porkchops than she could, and even my very picky brother who never eats anything we cook cleaned his entire plate. Excited to make this for the rest of my family, and my boyfriend, too!
one word. YUM! will definitely make this again. Thanks for sharing a wonderful and delicious recipe, Cassie:)
Had to substitute the steak seasoning for Ms. Dash, doubled the sauce and baked the half cooked chops at 350 for 30 minutes. (They were ver thick). Served with rice...yummy!!!
It was great. I didn't have beef bouillon so I used chicken bouillon and it still was very good. A definite do over and would highly recommend
We love this recipe! I make it exactly as written and serve it over noodles with dark green vegetables. A perfect meal!
I just made this for dinner, so yummy! Even my picky 5 year old ate the gravy on his potatoes then asked for seconds. Thank you for sharing this recipe, its a keeper.
Wow! This tastes almost just like my grandma's...but maybe a tiny bit better (from the basil?)shhh. Will definitely make this a staple on our family menu. I followed the recipe exactly, except I didn't have Montreal seasoning so I used McCormick's Steakhouse seasoning instead. I think its the same thing?? This is the ultimate comfort food. Ten stars! Thank you for the recipe Cassie!
Not many recipes can satisfy the whole family! This did, and they wanted more! I would double it next time because I only had 4 chops. Next time I would double the sauce and use 8 chops! Make this!!!!
This was delicious! I had 3 super thick pork chops so I modified the recipe to serve 3 & there was plenty of sauce to smother them in. I seared both sides of the pork & all the edges, too. I made my own Montreal steak seasoning using a Mock McCormick recipe I have & I omitted the red pepper so it wouldn't be too spicy for my little boy. Served this along side the Roasted Garlic Cauliflower recipe by Shellery, also on this site. Both recipes are going into my regular rotation.
I was out of butter, so decided to give it a try with olive oil and I was so pleasantly surprised. It turned out great! I left out the beef bouillon too, as other reviewers said it was too salty. The sauce was delicious over both the pork chops and mashed potatoes - will definitely make this again.
This is for sure my families favourite dish. The gravy is awesome and my husband said "I have to admit it. The gravy in this dish is actually better than KFC gravy." This is huge by the way. My daughter dips one elbow macaroni at a time into this gravy. We love it on mashed potatoes. So nummy. The recipe is sound as my mother made it when she was here and it was just as good. I only sear the meat in the pan. Making sure it is brown and a bit crispy on both sides. This gives you some good tasting bits in the pan. Then I cook it on low in a casserole dish in the oven. I make sure that the juices that come out of the meat after cooking in the oven, are poured into the gravy. Very important. Except a bit of a difference in the process, I follow the recipe exactly. Sometimes I add a bit of mustard to the chops before searing them. Just to give them an extra zip. Oh and one more thing; when I make this dish my husband says "you get prettier every time you make this." lol.
Did not change a thing! Love this recipe. Made it a staple dish in our household. I used bone in 1/2 inch thick pork chops that were on sale!
I made this exactly to the T. Absolutely best pork chop recipe I've ever made! I did you bone in chops, and added a little salt. Perfection!
I made this recipe exactly as it was written and it was PHENOMENAL! It did make a lot of sauce for 4 pork chops, but I used every drop of it on them, and the fried potatoes and angel hair pasta I made for sides. This was seriously a marvelous dinner! The only thing I would do differently next time is use a little less steak seasoning and double it! This will forever be a 'go to' recipe in my house!
It was pretty good. The Montreal steak seasoning made for an odd, spicy gravy.
This recipe is amazing! Next time I'll cut back on the pepper as my little one thought it was to spicy. My hubby and I loved it and will definitely make it again! Cook the chops a little less but change nothing else.
Delicious! My son-in-law and husband really enjoyed it; so it was a pleasant surprise since their tastes are so different normally. Thank you for this recipe; will definitely make again!
I made these exactly as directed (although I had no Montreal Steak Seasoning, but I Googled it, had all the ingredients, and made my own) and it's definitely a keeper! My family raved over these, even my picky eater!
This is definitely a recipe to make when you want to impress someone. As good as any restaurant meal I've had. I might cut back a little on the pepper, but not by much. We only had 2 pork chops, but I made the full batch of gravy, and am glad I did.
2-25-2016 ~Following these directions, the pork chops turned out simply beautiful. Nice brown color, tender and juicy. I sautéed them in clarified butter (I always try to make more than I need so as to have it on hand); this way there was little chance of the butter burning, given the lengthy cooking time. I don't keep bouillon granules on hand, so beef base was what I used. The perfectly moist and tender pork chops, coupled with a flavorful milk gravy = a tasty and satisfying dinner. I served these with steamed asparagus and Barilla Spaghetti with Lemon, Parmigiano Reggiano and Basil, recipe also from this site.
I was so pleased with how this recipe turned out. I'd never tried Montreal steak seasoning before and it's different, but not in a bad way. I also tend to shy away from milk gravies, but this one was SO GOOD! I got a perfect char on the pork chops which pairs really well with the gravy. I served this with mashed potatoes to use more of the gravy and some Steakhouse Green Beans I found in the frozen aisle of the store. Next time I'm going to try using herbes de provence in the gravy instead of basil as suggested in one of the reviews. I'm definitely putting this in my meal rotation. Thanks for sharing.
My wife & I made this and with some tweaks it was one of the Best meals I have ever had. Add less milk in the gravy, tons of pepper. Before putting the chops in the oven add some butter to the top of them and it's Perfect.
Very simple and tastey, I think I will try baking it for an hour like the others have suggested. Update: I followed the directions and then covered and baked for about an hour, wow , makes a big difference, so nice and tender. Great dinner and so easy!
I didn't change the recipe AT ALL and it was fantastic. My chops weren't as evenly dark brown as in the picture, but they were done. I had 3 relatively thick chops, and I cooked them for 8 minutes on the first side, and 9 minutes on the second.
This is fantastic!! So easy. Gravy can be used on other meats as well! The whole family loved it.
I loved this recipe, it was really simple but lots of taste. I originally started out wanting grilled pork chops; which my 20 year old son volunteered to do for me. However, plans changed after his disappearing act. So I jumped into action and found this wonderful replacement. I had already seasoned my chops with my choice of seasonings, so I didn't use the Montreal steak seasoning. Although everything else was pretty much to the letter. The flavor was popping, I did add some chopped onions to my gravy as well. I believed everyone loved the change, although they were looking for grilled chops. Even the chef that disappeared had great things to say! I would love to do this again. I served this with another Allrecipe's Oven Brown rice (Kaylee W) and whole green beans.
Excellent recipe. Teen daughter and picky eater boyfriend both cleaned their plates! Will make this one again and again!
I made this tonight for dinner and I liked it. My 2 daughter on the other hand did not like the gravy. There is a strong basil flavor to it I would make this again with little or no basil for my kids liking.
I absolutely loved this dish! My whole family enjoyed it as well. I didn't have Montreal seasoning on hand so I substituted Herbs de Provence and my oh my did it taste delish! I like butter and added more as necessary than the recipe actually called for. I also eliminated the beef bouillon the next time I made it and it was still great.
FAB recipe! I'm always on the prowl for great pork recipes & this one from Cassie fits the bill! SO simple to pull together & serve up in 35 - 40 minutes. I had spicy Montreal Seasoning & used chicken stock to get the right consistency for that creamy gravy! Don't forget to add that pork juice from the chops you have resting on the plate. I did omit the beef bullion & added some Herbs de Provence. TO DIE FOR!!
Delicious!!! Everyone loved this recipe! I used pork tenderloin which I cut two into very thick medallions instead of chops and only sprinkled the Mt'l steak spice on the meat. I seared them/cooked them until just pink, removed them from the pan and then proceeded as directed to make the gravy. Once made I returned the medallions to the gravy, covered the pan, and removed it from the heat to keep the tenderloin warm until the veggies were ready (mashed potatoes and roasted carrots/parsnip/beets). Wow. Thank you for a wonderful recipe!!
This was unbelievably good! The pork chops were delicious and the sauce was omg good. Thank you for sharing this recipe, my husband gobbled down two chops and I can't wait to make it again.
This was ok. The gravy maybe needs a little something. Pork chops cooked nicely.
Husband and I enjoyed this for dinner. I sautéed some mushrooms to add to the gravy but otherwise no changes made!
SOOOO creamy! Both husband and son raved about it! I should have had some French bread available to dip in the sauce, since it was so flavorful and abundant. All we had was regular bread but my son used that to dip into the sauce when his pork chop was finished. Be careful not to overdo the Montreal Steak Seasoning on the chops--they might end up making the sauce too salty. This was easy to make-no new cooking techniques to learn or unfamiliar ingredients--this recipe would be a good choice on a work night.
This is awesome all the way around. The sauce is super as directed to make. It calls for Monterey steak seasoning but never has you add it in the recipe. Well I thought I had some but didn't. When I found I didn't, I left it out and this recipe sure didn't miss it one bit. One note I would add. After frying the chops, maybe steam them for about 20-minutes to soften the meat. Thick cut chops are a little tough and we like to cut them with a fork. Flavor is spot on though when made as directed. No need to alter.
Made it almost as written. Just pounded the pork chops before seasoning them. I didn’t have Montreal steak seasoning, so, I looked it up and combined the spices that are in it (tablespoons of garlic powder, onion powder, 1/2 tablespoons of coriander, paprika, dill, salt, and pepper). Followed the directions on frying. I made the gravy as specified, but it tasted too milky, so I added a tablespoon of Italian seasoning to it. Family liked it. I served it with mashed sweet potatoes and salad. I’ll make it again, it’s a great weeknight meal.
Delicious! The sauce needed some salt...other than that this will become a go-to staple!
This was delicious. I used about half the butter recommended and it was still amazing. Even better as leftovers.
This is the 5th or 6th time I made this and I keep getting better. My wife loves it.
I love Montreal seasoning on steaks and decided to try this recipe on pork chops. I seasoned the chops and refrigerated them for an hour. I usually let the beef steaks marinate overnight but I didn't have time. I didn't have beef bouillon and substituted with a chicken bouillon cube, crushed up. As the pork chops were frying, I placed a cover on it to retained it's moisture. I had everything else except for the basil. Used 2 tablespoons of flour and the sauce came out too thick in the end. 1 tablespoon would of flour would of worked for me. I guess it depends on your likeness. They turned out yummy even with using chicken bouillon and no basil. Next time, I'll cut down on the Montreal season since it was a bit salty and use less flour. Otherwise, it's a great and easy recipe. Thanks!
Great recipe for pork chops. I used boneless pork chops because that’s what I had on hand. Will make again but will only use half the pepper. With the Montreal spices and the pepper , it was a bit too spicy for our taste.
I followed the recipe exactly. All I can say is DEVINE! Do not skip the Montreal steak seasoning. It really compliments the sauce.
Delicious!! The pork chops tasted fantastic and the sauce put the flavor over the top! This dish looked like it was prepared by a professional chef. I was excited to serve this meal to my family. Definitely a new favorite recipe!
So I ran out of beef bullion and added beef onion soup mix instead (hey, a girl has to improvise) and it was so yummy! I'll keep this one!
It was wonderful, Got to find a way to make the Pork Chops more tender
Delicious!!! I doubled the recipe, and it was very easy to make and scrumptious!!! I also baked it in the oven in a casserole dish with all the ingredients, and it turned out wonderful!
We loved this! I made double gravy to use on our mashed potatoes. We will make this again for sure!
We made this for dinner last night, and both my husband and I agreed we would be adding it was on the "make again" list. The only change we will make next time will be adding less pepper. It was a little peppery for our little one to enjoy.
I have made this multiple times by request of my husband which is 5 star automatically! On my part, it’s easy to make. I have the ability to multi task with this recipe to prepare side dishes and overall doesn’t require a lot of time to make!
Wow!!! It was delicious. I had a pork tenderloin and cut the chops myself. I followed the recipe to the T but multiplied by 1.5 because I had 8 thinner chops. Served with baked potatoes and red cabbage. I'm so glad there are leftover!
I made this recipe exactly as it is stated, and it was phenomenal! the pork turned out moist and tender and the creamy sauce was so delicious! 5 stars
Made it exactly as directed and the pork chops were tender and we enjoyed the gravy over mashed potatoes, will place in rotation.
Very easy. Very quick. Loved it as comfort food. The montreal seasoning just a bit salty. Other then that I loved it!
This one great recipe. My son's fussy friend even loved it and cleaned his plate. A real keeper.
It was an easy to follow recipe, the pork chops were great, but the sauce was lacking... my only issue is I’m not sure what... I think it def needs some paprika, but basil is just not the right spice, but I don’t know what would be good... I think next time I’m going to try it with celery seed. Otherwise we really enjoyed the dish!
My husband does not like pork chops but he loved this and no, I did not make changes to it. We had all ingredients on hand. So good.
Followed the instructions exactly and it was amazing. I used any extra gravy to put on top of my rice. Will definitely make again.
I was cooking for two so cut the sauce portions in half. There was ample gravy leftover. Super delicious and simple. Will definitely serve again!
This recipe was very good. I would make this again. It did not take long to prepare and cook. This will be my weekday meal after working all day.
I made the recipe as written but only made half a recipe. The sauce was savory and perfectly complimented the pork chop.
Delicious! I made this exactly according to the recipe. The only thing I did differently, I used the "spicy" montreal steak seasoning. I was a bit skeptical about using it because of the pepper amount in the recipe, but it was the best gravy for the pork. I also served the pork with a baked potato, so there was enough sauce to put on the potato. Absolutely delicious. I will definitely be maaking this dish again.
Made this for my family of five and they loved it. The sauce was so creamy and the pork chops were so tender. I paired them with mashed potatoes and they loved them! Will definitely be one of my go to recipes from now on!
OMG. We live in the south, this is a GREAT southern, stick to your ribs meal. I made rice to go with the gravy and pork chops. I made zero changes and it was PERFECT. Husband asked if we could have this every Sunday starting this Sunday...today is Saturday?
my new favorite pork chop recipe! i made it exactly as stated. i ate it for dinner that day and for lunches next three days and i never eat leftovers!!
Great recipe. Didn't change a thing. Very easy to make and in a very short time you have an awesome meal!
Great recipe. Always looking for new ways to do chops, this is a keeper.
Just made them tonight for the family and they were pretty tasty. I think the gravy was decent but would add a pinch of salt and no pepper as the Montreal spice had plenty of it.
Delicious!!! I didn’t have Montreal Steak but substituted with a S&P, Cayenne, Paprika, Garlic Salt mix!!!
Absolutely fantastic! No changes, served with mashed potatoes, was a great comfort meal on a wet, dreary day. Definitely a keeper!
This is so good!! I have made it three or four times, and it is so satisfying and tasty! The only changes I made were to make it serve 2 and used Better than Bullion paste, stirred into the milk, rather than dry bullion .
WOW. Everyone loved this! The sauce was amazing. I'm saving this one!
This is for the original recipe made with thin boneless pork loin chops. The changes below make it much better. Make 1/4 of the sauce. Replace 1/2 milk with water. Sear chops three minutes each side med high heat then reheat in sauce right before serving
