  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a bread pan.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, and cloves in a large bowl.
  3. Beat egg and milk together in a separate bowl; add to flour mixture and stir to moisten dry ingredients evenly. Pour mixture into a bread pan.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 45 to 55 minutes. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.

This cake was okay--it needs salt, maybe 1/2 teaspoon. It wasn't remarkable in any way for us, just tasted like a spiced cookie but with the texture of a quick bread. It took twice as long to ...

great flavor, but cooking it for 45 minutes made it overdone. next time i'll try it for 30 or 35 minutes.
