  • Dissolve orange gelatin in boiling water in a large bowl, stirring for about 3 minutes; mix cold water and orange juice into gelatin. Pour gelatin mixture into a glass serving dish. Stir red grapefruit and mandarin oranges into mixture and refrigerate until set, about 4 hours.

  • Whisk topping and mayonnaise in a bowl until smoothly combined; serve gelatin salad with a spoonful of dressing over each portion.

This is very similar to a dish my mom would make a lot for holidays. She would use pineapple instead of grapefruit and top with marshmallows and cheddar cheese. I really liked this version with grapefruit! Read More

12-02-15 Wonderful salad! The one change I made to this recipe was to use the mandarin orange juice in place of the cold water. Figured there was no sense wasting the juice. It turned out perfect and we all loved the taste of the two fruits included in the dish. We are big fans of gelatin dishes so I know we will be having this one again. Read More
