Spiced Maple Pancakes

Rated as 3.92 out of 5 Stars

"I loved the texture and flavor of the original recipe, but I love cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg in my recipes. Enjoy! Of course with any pancakes you can add chocolate chips, blueberries, etc. while cooking. It tastes great with dark chocolate chunks. Make sure you add them on top just before the bubbles all pop and before you flip them so the chocolate doesn't melt so much."

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl.
  2. Whisk milk, egg, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves together in a separate bowl. Stir milk mixture into flour mixture until just blended.
  3. Heat 2 teaspoons vegetable oil on a griddle over medium heat; pour about 1/4 cup batter onto the hot griddle. Cook until bubbles begin to form on top of pancakes, 3 to 5 minutes. Flip and cook until second side is golden brown, 3 to 5 more minutes. Repeat with remaining batter.

The spices were overwhelming. Maybe try cutting the spices in half. I ended up throwing them away, which I hate to do.

I only used half of all the spices required and I'm glad I did because it was perfect. I think it would be too overpowering if I stuck to the recipe given. Great fall inspired pancakes! I paired...

The flavor was Fabulous... but for me, the batter was too thin. I added a splash of vanilla and abt. a Tblsp of sugar to a tripled recipe. Next time I'll try more flour. But these WERE Delicious...

Way too much cloves! Next time will read reviews first and follow their suggestions. Unlike one reviewer who felt batter was too thin, I found the opposite to be true. After I let batter sit a f...

This is good - with some changes where the spices are concerned. For example, I would never use the amount of cloves here - way too much. I made the pancakes with 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/8 tsp clove...

Thank you for posting this recipe, I really really liked the concept and choice of spices. That being said I cut the spices in half like others recommended and still found them a little to poten...

Loved this! I have never thought about using nutmeg in a recipe...how fantastic for a fall breakfast!!!

I wanted a Fall-type breakfast and tried this recipe. As written it gets 4 stars. There was just too much spice, all you could taste was the spice. there was no maple flavor to be found! Whe...
