  1. In a bowl, mash the butter and flour together until smooth and creamy. Beat in the cream, 1 to 2 tablespoons at a time, until thoroughly combined.
  2. Scrape the dough onto a large sheet of plastic wrap, wrap tightly, and chill at least 1 hour to overnight.
  3. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  4. Roll the dough out 1/4 inch thick on a floured work surface, and cut into 2-inch circles with a cutter. Place sugar into a shallow bowl, and dip each cookie into the sugar on both sides. Place the cookies onto the prepared baking sheets.
  5. Bake cookies in the preheated oven until the edges turn light golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Allow to cool for about 5 minutes on sheets before removing to cool completely on racks.

This is a very basic recipe with basic, classic ingredients. The cookies were delicious. The best way to describe them is like small bites of homemade pie crust. I did not ice mine, but I did di...

recipe was easy enough, but these cookies have zero flavor.

They were amazingly soft and somehow also flaky! Delicious

I changed this up a bit, partly because I wasn't paying attention, oops! My intentional changes were that I put the 1/2 cup sugar directly into the batter & I didn't feel like rolling so made t...

The cookies were very bland even with the sugar coating. I suppose that's good since there wasn't much sugar in the recipe. There are several better recipes to choose from.

Great cookies . I added the sugar to the dough and also added a dash of cardamon for extra flavor . Was really good. It is a keeper

Soft and not too sweet. I added lemon baking emulsion and these cookies melted in my mouth.
